Elijah was a man zealous for God. He had high points in his walk with God but when things started getting tough and his life started getting threatened he feared for his life and ran into the wilderness. He wanted to die but God told him to get up and eat because there was still a long journey ahead of him. It wasn’t time to quit!

This enticement goes back long ago including to God’s people, Israel. They wanted a king so they could be just like all the other nations. But is that what God was calling them to. How about you?

Have you ever been so caught up in all that is wrong that you miss out on all that is right? That is the story of Gideon. In the time of the Judges, God’s people did “evil in the sight of the Lord.” God allowed Israel’s enemies to take advantage of them. Then when they cried out to God, God would raise up a leader to deliver them. Gideon was one of those least likely leaders.
